Recognition of European professional qualifications

For whom?

For all people coming from a country belonging to the European Economic Area, the European Union has created with Directive 2005/36/EC the prerequisites for recognizing professional qualifications in another country in a simple manner in order to be able to practice one’s profession there.

To what end?

This is necessary if it involves a profession, where its pursuit is linked to aptitude and qualification certificates. For support, there are the single points of contact who have access to information about which professions are affected and what training courses are provided in the relevant country. In addition to that, there is central access to the procedures of the competent authorities.

In what situation?

The profession was practiced in another member state and there it is not subject to any restriction, or the qualifications required there were acquired in the country of origin and now the profession is supposed to be practiced in Brandenburg. If the profession is regulated here, the recognition of the qualifications obtained in the European Economic Area and the equivalence of the qualifications will be required as soon as the professional wants to relocate his activities to Germany.
