Legal Information
Perhaps you have acquired training and qualifications in another Member State of the European Union or in a State party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area or in a Contracting State of an agreement on the recognition of professional qualifications concluded with the Federal Republic of Germany and the European Union – and would like to have them recognized as a professional qualification for a profession which in Germany may only be practised with a legally regulated qualification?
If so, applications can be submitted online via the Point of Single Contact in the State of Brandenburg (EAPBbg), or sent electronically or in writing to the competent authority. The same goes for applications for the recognition of your qualifications as a career requirement for a corresponding activity as a civil servant if these qualifications are the prerequisite for such an activity in the country where the qualifications were acquired and in cases where a European Professional Card may be applied for. Within a period of one month, you should receive confirmation from the competent authority that the necessary documents have been received, possibly with information about any other documents which (in the opinion of the competent authority) are still required. Once all the necessary documents have been submitted, you should be notified of a decision within three months and in certain cases within four months.
If the applicant is not in agreement with the official decision because, as an example, the application for the permit was refused or the issue of the permit — contrary to the application — has been subjected to charges or other subsidiary conditions, he or she must proceed against the notification independently. Compliance with the legal instructions enclosed by the responsible authorities with the notification is absolutely essential.
